Coast Karate (Zero to 58...in Four months!)

Coast Karate School

While this Coos Bay Karate school may be either unknown to some or known as "The Karate Kid" to others, this young school is quickly taking on a form of it's own. (Quickly, being the key word.) Starting just four months ago, it now has just under 60 students of various ages! This makes it one of the largest schools on the Southern Oregon Coast.

Evolution @ Clambake

Evolution @ Clambake

A big hit with folks at this year's Clambake Jazz Festival, The Oregon Coast Lab Band's "Evolution" stuck to and "wowed" the audience with Big Band standards. The 20+ piece band is unusal to this and other festivals since all of it's members are teens but have a desire for the music of the Big Band and Jazz genres!

Progress in Downtown Coos Bay? Absolutely!

Coos Bay Visitor Center

As shown in the above photo, the Visitor Information Center is closing in on the detail work and is scheduled to be finished in July of this year. Besides the actual visitor center, there will be other offices and a conference room available as well.

Both Coos Bay and North Bend are busy with current projects. Coos Bay has expanded it's Downtown revitalization and is currently building a new Visitor Information Center on Hwy 101! The recently completed state of the art skate park is also a must see if you are into skating!

North Bend is focusing on their waterfront development. The most visible project to note is the Hotel North Bend, which is undergoing a complete renovation! North Bend is also working on their waterfront boardwalk!

SITE NEWS:

If you have visited here before, you may have noticed the new site design. You may have also noticed that this design is less cluttered and the lack of Google ads throughout the site. Instead of all the adsense ads, I have chosen instead to offer space to local advertisers. See the "CONTACT" page for more info.

As a result of this, the site will also be adding "News Snippets" in various formats. While this is not meant to be a "hard news" service, there are many things in the area that with a little digging can be turned up to really appreciate the value of our great area!

When I first posted this news more than a year ago, the removal of the New Carissa was still just winding down. If you missed our little piece of history, be sure and see it here! (This is one of the last pieces of video shot of this world famous vessel).
